Roadside Farm Stands & Local Farm Goods in Southern Aroostook |
Farm Fresh Stops Across Southern Aroostook |
One of the best parts of driving through Aroostook County is finding the small farm stands that appear along the back roads and Route 1 during the growing season. Some are staffed. Some still run on the honor system. Some sell potatoes, corn, berries, eggs, honey, maple syrup, baked goods, flowers, pumpkins, or whatever came out of the field that week.
This is not just shopping. It is part of the County experience.
Take a slow drive through Houlton, Littleton, Monticello, Mars Hill, Bridgewater, Presque Isle, Caribou, Hodgdon, Linneus, and the surrounding farm towns, and you will find local food the way people here have found it for generations: close to the field, close to the farmer, and close to home. |
