Dan Daigle, a Frenchville native and longtime snowmobiler and ATV rider, recently expanded his motor sports business by purchasing Mountain Side Powersports of Presque Isle, formerly known as the Sled Shop.

After successfully launching a location in Wilton six years ago, Daigle decided to open a second shop closer to his Aroostook County roots to take advantage of the region's extensive trail system and outdoor recreation opportunities. The purchase of the Sled Shop not only marks an expansion for Mountain Side Powersports but also ensures the continuation of a 33-year-old business in the Presque Isle area as founder Kevin Freeman retires.

Daigle's passion for outdoor recreation and his desire to spend more time in Aroostook County led him to acquire the shop, which specializes in selling and repairing snowmobiles, ATVs, side-by-sides, and personal watercraft. With warmer winters affecting snowmobiling opportunities in Maine, Daigle sees a growing market for ATV and side-by-side sales, making the expansion to Presque Isle a strategic move.

The new location will continue to offer the same inventory and services, with plans to eventually add other power sports lines.

Daigle has already increased the staff, aiming to create a trustworthy and community-oriented atmosphere similar to the one that contributed to the success of his Wilton location. Freeman, the former owner, will stay on as a consultant and adviser for the transition period, ensuring a smooth handover of the business.

The deal to purchase the shop and the accompanying 4.75-acre parcel was finalized in April for $575,000.
