This September, Mainers are invited to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month with a statewide adventure: the Maine Library Passport Contest. Organized by the Maine Library Association and Maine State Library, the contest encourages participants to visit libraries in each of the state’s 16 counties and collect stamps or signatures as proof of their travels. Completed passports can be entered for a chance to win gift cards and prize packages from sponsors like L.L.Bean, Briar Patch Books, Shaws, Hannaford, and even the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival. Thursday, September 3 — Movie Night. The Dog Stars plays again at the Temple at 7:00 p.m. Thursday seats are $6.
Friday, September 4 — Movie Night. The Dog Stars is scheduled at the Temple at 7:00 p.m. Standard admission is $8 adults, $7 seniors 65+, $6 children under 13, and $7 Hero Pricing for eligible active military, law enforcement, firefighters and nurses.
Saturday, September 5 — Weekend Movies. The Temple has The Dog Stars at 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Saturday. The 1:00 p.m. show qualifies for the $7 matinee price; regular evening pricing is $8 adults, $7 seniors, $6 children and $7 Hero Pricing.
Sunday, September 6 — Scottish Country Dancing. 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Watson Hall, 116 Main Street. This is social Scottish country dancing rather than competitive Highland dancing, and admission is FREE.
